On 15th of November in the framework of the German Weeks in Ukraine, Volyn Regional State Administration with support of the Green Economy Programme successfully conducted the International Forum “Green Economy: Innovative solutions for the development of the Region”.
The Governor Volodymyr Gunchyk, Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Olena Rabotiagova, and the Director of the Green Economy Programme Dagmar Ecer opened the Forum and warmly greeted the participants.
The main goal of the event was to allow the regional authorities, businesses and civil society to get acquainted with the qualitative advantages and opportunities of the green modernisation of the economy according to the international standards.
Yuriy Kresak, Head of the Department for Development, Investment and European Integration of Volyn Regional State Administration presented recent developments in the sphere of green economy in Volyn region and empasised that the regional government is trying to apply an integrated approach in this field.
Taras Sakalosh, the Executive Director of the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre and Dagmar Ecer, the Green Economy Programme Director presented the recommendations of the Platform for Green Economy Growth, on mitigation of barriers for companies and service providers, in order to increase investments in the green modernisation of the Ukrainian economy.
Representatives of small and medium-sized businesses from Ukraine and Germany actively shared their experiences with launching “green” projects and encouraged the participants to introduce “green” initiatives in their own businesses.
More than 100 experts from the companies and organisations of Volyn Region, Ukraine and the EU member states attended the Forum.
