On 16th of June, 2017 a Kick-off meeting on the elaboration of the National Industrial Policy Strategy for Ukraine was initiated by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine with participation of the representatives of the Green Economy Programme, UNIDO and international experts. During the event the participants got acquainted with different approaches for the preparation of such strategies and discussed the potential actions to be taken as well as the timelines.
Special Advisor to the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Prof. Slavo Radosevic introduced the key issues and challenges in developing and implementing the industrial policy in Ukraine. The expert in the sectoral and industrial policy Dr. Rainer Engels presented the GIZ/UNIDO toolbox EQuIP (Enhancing the Quality of Industrial Policies). EQuIP is an integrated methodological toolbox aiming at supporting the policy makers with formulating and designing the evidence-based strategies for inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
As a result of the meeting, the participants agreed on the need to involve the European experts, with experience in the field of industrial policy and the EQuIP, in the process of developing the Strategy. The necessary contributions and commitments of the involved stakeholders were also defined along with the next steps and actions for the development of the Strategy.
